(4-28 Joplin) Breakfast was in Oklahoma, lunch was in Kansas and Dinner was in Missouri. We left Oklahoma and it was 61 degrees. A very warm start and with a good tailwind we were in Kansas before we knew it. Wanting to do something in each state we stopped for lunch in Baxter Springs. It was only a McDonald's but it was in Kansas.

After lunch we made the left turn on to the Old Route 66 road. This was a quiet stretch of road. I could imagine that Baxter Springs had not changed much since the hay-days of Route 66. Soon we were riding over the last remaining rainbow style, concrete-truss bridge. This bridge was, in the past, called Graffiti Bridge but when we rode across it there was no sign of graffiti (as you can tell from the picture).

Then it was on to the town of Galena, where we rode on a another stretch of "Old Route 66". This is a piece of the original U.S. 66 - a two-mile strip of unimproved two-lane road with no curb and little shoulder. Now it's on to Missouri.

Today I declared my cold official over. No more runny nose and the cough was gone.

We rode 15 miles in Kansas.
